Frank J. May, Sr., 89, 169 May Rd., died Thursday, June 7, 2001, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
A Carter County native, Mr. May was a son of the late James and Rebecca Crowe May. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Hester Jane Peters May, in 1964; three sisters, two infant daughters, and one infant son.
He was retired from Bemberg Corp. after 40 years of service. Mr. May was a member of Harmony Baptist Church.
Survivors include six daughters and five sons-in-law, Ruth and Robert Pilk, Elizabethton; Mary Oliver, Elizabethton; Christine and Joe Swain, Elizabethton; Charlotte and Thomas Smith, Elizabethton; Betty Jo and Harry Arnold, Jr., Elizabethton; and Bonnie and Joe Carr, Sr., Elizabethton; two sons and two daughters-in-law, James Alvn and Phyllis May, Elizabethton; Frank Jr. and Patricia May, Elizabethton; one brother, John Edward May, Elizabethton, 24 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, a very special grandson, Frank J. (Little Frank) May; and several nieces and nieces and nephews.

MAY -- Funeral services for Frank J. May, Sr., 89, 169 May Road, Elizabethton, who died Thursday, June 7, 2001, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2001, at Harmony Baptist Church with the Revs. Haskel Ingram and David Burrell officiating. Music will be under the direction of Ethel Davidson, soloist.
Interment will follow the service at Emmert Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from grandsons and family. Honorary pallbearers will be Orville Richards, Orville Harvey, Bill May, Ray Estep, Carl Murphy, Fred Colbaugh, Fred Parlier, Jr., Richard Campbell, men of Harmony Baptist Church, Arlie Reece, and friends and neighbors. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, June 9, 2001, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel.
