Henry J. Lawhead married Delilah Thompson on 19 Aug 1852 in Clinton County, Ohio. They lived in southern Iowa and later moved to Missouri. When the Civil War broke out, Henry was called into the army. Some time later, Henry came home for a short furlough, then went back to the army, and a little while later got the measles. Having very little care, he died, leaving his wife and five children. Another daughter was born August 22, 1863 who was named Henrietta in honor of the father she never met.
