Olan Wayne Dyson, 93, passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012. Graveside service: 11 a.m. Thursday in Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel. Olan served in the U.S. Army from 1938-1945. He was a drill instructor at Fort Wolters in Mineral Wells until he was called into active duty in World War II as a staff sergeant. He was an infantryman in the 83rd Infantry Division, 330th Infantry Regiment, Company G, and received a Purple Heart after being wounded in the battle of Hurtgen Forest. After the war, Olan worked as a Fort Worth city bus driver for 20 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth; parents; seven brothers and sisters; and son-in-law, Harry Joe Mussato. Survivors: Sons, Gerald Wayne Dyson and wife, Peggy, and Phil M. Dyson and wife, Annette; daughter, Mary Mussato; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
