Terry Galen Steele, 57, of Grinnell, died peacefully at his home the morning of Wednesday, August 3, 2011. Memorial service at the Smith Funeral Home with Art Wallis, Grandview Church of Christ in Des Moines, officiating. Burial in Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.
The son of Shirley and Warner Steele, Terry was born on October 10, 1953. He graduated from Grinnell High School in 1971.
Terry married Mary Morton on October 2, 1976, in Guernsey, and they were married for 26 years. He started working for Robintech in 1972, and continued working in the same factory building with Wolverine and CertainTeed for 27 years.
Throughout the 1990s, Terry raised Appaloosa horses and Pony of the Americas, and enjoyed helping his daughters in 4-H activities. He was an avid bluegrass musician, and particularly loved playing the banjo and fiddle. He also enjoyed collecting coins, knives, and violins.
He is survived by his three daughters, Tyn' Larissa Steele Rieck and her husband Bryan of Davenport, Tiffini Jo Steele of Des Moines, Alexis Gabrielle Steele of Chicago, and their mother Mary Steele of Grinnell; his sister Cheri Monteleone and her husband John Robson of Grinnell; niece Tawny VanTomme and her husband Danny also of Grinnell; and his fiance Deb Cecil.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents.
