Abraham FULLER Biography

Abraham (Abram) Fuller was born in Wysox Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania in 1837 the son of Stephen and Anna Fuller. By 1850 the family had moved to Dixon, Illinois but tragedy struck when in 1851 Anna passed away at 51 years of age. By 1860 the family which included: Abraham, Caroline, and Champion, was still in Dixon a brother William had since left the household. In June of 1863 both Abraham, Champion registered for the draft in the 3rd Congressional District, State of Illinois under the direction of Captain and Provost Marshal John V. Eustace. This being done by law even though Abraham had already served his country and was discharged from service. On December 1, 1861, Abraham enlisted and mustered into service on the same day. He was a Corporal with Co. "H" of the 46th IL. Infantry. He signed up under the direction of then Captain John Stevens, also a member of the 46th, for a term of three years' service. On July 17th at St. Louis, Missouri he was discharged for disability and sent home. Ironically another soldier with the same name was also a member of the 46th serving with Co. "E". He too was wounded and discharged for the same reason on September 28, 1862 and sent home to Ogle County, Illinois.
