Jana Lee Thurman Smith, age 61, passed away Friday, November 20, at Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington. Services for Mrs. Smith will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home with the Rev. Todd Lester officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home, Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A native of Frankfort, she was born February 13, 1951. She was a former employee in the Department of Waste Management, Commonwealth of Kentucky retiring after 27 years of service. Mrs. Smith enjoyed bowling, playing bunko and loved to camp with family and friends at the Kentucky River Campground. She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, William B. Smith; two daughters, Pam Gorman (Preston) and Andrea Smith (fiance, Russ Morse); and five grandchildren, Tyler and Jenna Gorman and Kendall, Carlie and Chloe Woods. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, James R. and Marie Evelyn Smith Thurman and two sisters, Carla and Linda Thurman. Preston Gorman, Russ Morse, Jimmy Johnson, William Mackey, Tony Ernspike and Donald Toles will serve as pall bearers. Flowers are welcome or expressions of sympathy in her memory are suggested to Lexington Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, 1795 Alysheba Way, Suite 3104, Lexington, Kentucky 40509.
