Sarah Josephine Hartwell Mitchell, of Comfort TX, passed away peacefully Saturday February 29, 2020 at the age of 102.
She remained independent throughout her 102 years of life, legally driving until she was 98, attending church regularly with the help of caring friends and living in her home until a week before her passing.

Sally Hartwell was born on June 21, 1917 in San Antonio Texas to Harry and Lucile James Hartwell.

On December 2, 1939, Sally married Robert Eugene Mitchell of Corsicana at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in San Antonio, Texas.

Sally was active in her community. She was a member of Saint Boniface Church, the Comfort Literary and Social Club, Lions Club and the Guadalupe Gallavanters walking club. In 2009 she was honored by St. Boniface Church as Woman of the Year.

Sally was the oldest of 5 children, she is proceeded in death by her parents and brothers; George H. Hartwell, Gorham G. Hartwell, Vinton L. Hartwell and Charles M. Hartwell, her beloved husband of 42 years; Col. Robert E. Mitchell, sons; Harry Ballard Mitchell and Wynne Andrew Mitchell, daughter; Julie Mitchell Heinen and daughter-in-law; Pam Boudreaux Mitchell.

Sally is survived by her son; Robert Eugene Mitchell Jr. of San Antonio, daughter; Barbara Mitchell Pankratz and son-in-law Jimmy Pankratz of Comfort, son-in-law; Charles Heinen of Comfort and daughter-in-law; Janice Aid Mitchell of Snyder. Nine Grandchildren: Alice Mitchell Porter, Barclay W. Mitchell, Rebecca E. Mitchell, Kim Mitchell Koch, Chris R. Mitchell, Leslie Mitchell Billingsley, Deborah Heinen Juern, Kelly Heinen Matte, Russell J. Pankratz and 15 Great-Grandchildren.

As per her request Sally H. Mitchell will be cremated with a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date. The service has been canceled until further notice

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be given in her memory to the Cancer Society, Comfort Public Library or charity of your choice.
