When J.W. was born he weighed only 2 pounds and had to be carried around on a pillow for a couple of months.When he died he topped the scales at 300 pounds. He was the third child of Robert Little Chaffin and Martha Esther Byerly Chaffin. He owned and operated 'Big J's Hamburgers' in Lexington, North Carolina and was also a Tax Preparer. During his last year of life he had his leg amputed, and was loosing his vision due to diabetic retinopathy. On November, 17, 2004, J.W.'s body was found dead, in a state of extreme decomp, at his mother's home. Neither the newspaper nor the mail had been collected since the 14th, so the exact date of his death is uncertain. Due to the fact that he had been deceased so long his remains had to be cremated. His cremains were given to family members.
