John William Childress, 12, went to be with his Lord in Memorial Hospital in Danville, VA as a result of an odd automobile accident.

He suffered a punctured lung when the door handle of a car pierced his back as it brushed him while he was walking home from school several days ago.

He was the son of Harvey Bunyon Childress and Elizabeth Ophelia Soyars Childress.

Funeral services were held at the residence of his parents on the Mount Cross Road. Reverend E M Richardson, Jr officiated.

Interment was in the Childress Family Cemetery.

Pallbearers were William Moore, Anderson Tarpley, Harold Childress, Jefferson Childress, James Childresss, Ben Childress, Lacy Soyars, Eugene Soyars, Garland Soyars and Leonard Soyars.

Flower bearers were Miss Gertrude Green, Emerson Childress, Childress Tarpley, Clyde Scearce, Herbert Scearce, Richard Aron, Forest Hyler, Witcher Hyler, Aubrey Hyler, Ford Soyars, Ernest Hylton, George Soyars, Chester Hyler, James Hodges, Jack Hudson, Posey Slaughter, Bobbie Harvey, Andrew Parson, Stanley Kirks, Buddie Hyler, Charlie Walker, Richard Soyars, Carlton Tarpley, Vernor Hodges and Nathaniel Giles.
