Anna A. Meints, 91, of Beatrice died Saturday morning, December 1, 2012 at Homestead House in Beatrice. She was born March 14, 1921 on a farm northwest of Filley to Henry and Amanda (Leners) Wolken. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell where she was a life-long active member. She attended Cedar Bend Country School through the 8th grade but never lost her love for learning. She was an avid reader, especially the Bible. She married Willie J. Meints on April 25, 1947 and moved to a farm east of Pickrell. She especially loved quilting, gardening, canning, milking cows and being in the fields with Willie. They retired and moved to Beatrice in 1990. After her husband passed away, she established the Willie and Anna Endowment Fund which enabled many youth from Zion to attend Bible Camp. She was passionate about youth and higher education thus her generosity to that cause.

Survivors include her daughter, Yvonne Hammond and husband Bob of Indianapolis, Ind.; daughter-in-law, Kay Meints of Okemos, Mich.; three grandchildren, Charrie (Eric) Hemmeke, Darla (Chris) House and Michelle (Kurt) Werner; three great-grandchildren, Lauren and Ethan Hemmeke and David House; one sister, Dorothy Jurgens and husband Reinder of Beatrice; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Willie Meints, who died on October 21, 1990; son, Vernon who died in 1994; infant son, Leon who died in 1958; her sister, Marie Waltke and her husband, John C. Waltke; three sisters-in-law, Anna Meints, Marie Meints and Matilda Rickers and her husband Irvin.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 7, 2012 at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell with Pastor David Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery of rural Pickrell. A family prayer service will be held 10:45 a.m. on Friday at the church.
