GREEN, CARL WILLIAM, Carl William Green of Gainesville died Friday at the Veteran's Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was 72. Mr. Green was born in Old Town and moved to Gainesville from High Springs 31 years ago. He was owner/operator of Green's service stations in High Springs from the mid-1940s to the mid-1960s, and then was a salesman throughout the Southeast for Paul A. Hunter and Son chainsaw and logging supplies. He was also owner/operator of Green's Amoco mini-mart and power equipment in Gainesville during the '70s. He was a Merchant Marine veteran, and served aboard oceangoing merchant ships in service to the U.S. during World War II. He was a member of North Central Baptist Church. Survivors are his wife, Edwina B. Green of Gainesville; two sons, H. Tim Green and Gary Z. Green of Gainesville; one brother, John O. Green of Old Town; two sisters, Velma G. Lovelace of Old Town and Ruth G. Buss of Lancaster, Calif.; and three grandchildren.
