George Matthew Saad II passed into the hands of the Lord on Friday, November 30, 2012. He was born August 9th, 1929 in Detroit, MI, the son of George Matthew Saad and Hester Inez Compton.

He was a terrific husband and father, a loving and generous man, with great compassion for others. He was full of joy, and his smile was contagious. George believed very strongly in the value of higher education, and maintained close ties with the University of Notre Dame throughout his life. The University was a source of great pride and joy for him, as was the formal education of his children and grandchildren. His education there provided the foundation of his Christianity, and provided the basis for the way he always treated others - with compassion and love.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Hester and George, his sister, Margaret, and his son, George Matthew Saad III.

He is survived by his wife, Joan in Kerrville, his two sons in Austin, TX, Walter and his wife Susan, and Jonathan and his wife Jinny, and his two daughters in Marietta, GA, Kathy Garnett and Mary Williamson, and daughter in law, Rebecca Said of Altadena, CA. He is survived by seven grandchildren, Daniel, David, George Matthew IV, Theresa, Rachel, Sarah, and Michael.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Thursday, December 6th at 6:00 PM in the main chapel at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville, TX. In celebration of his life, a mass will be conducted on Friday, December 7th at 1:30 PM at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Kerrville, TX. Burial will follow on Saturday, December 8th at Assumption Cemetery in Austin, TX at 11:00. The family invites you to leave a message or memory at www.grimesfuneralchapels.com.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to the Notre Dame Catholic Church School Fund in Kerrville at 909 Main Street, Kerrville, TX 78028.
