GRAND RIVERS, Ky. -- David Mattingly, 53, Grand Rivers, formerly of Henderson, passed away Friday, April 15, 2011, at Jackson Purchase Medical Center in Mayfield, Ky.

He was employed as a technician for Pilgrim's Pride Hatchery. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Mr. Mattingly was preceded in death by his father, Dorris E. Mattingly, who died in 1988; his mother, Naomi King Mattingly, who died in 1965; two brothers, Dorris Edward Mattingly Jr., who died in 1976 and William J. "B.J." Mattingly, who died in 1990.

Survivors include two sons, David Mattingly Jr. and his wife, Beth, of Henderson and Derrick Mattingly and his wife, Dena, of Smith Mills; one daughter, Jaime Mattingly and her fiancé, Cory Carobs, of Newton, Ga.; his stepmother, Ronda Dikes and her husband, Donald, of Grand Rivers; seven sisters, Charlotte Mattingly Herron and her husband, Mike, of Brooks, Ky., Mary Alice Mattingly Workman of Lexington, Ky., Judy Mattingly Greathouse and her husband, Jeff, of Claudine, W.V., Susan Mattingly Brooks of Henderson, Paula Mattingly Harper and her husband, Danny, of Newton, Ga., Sheen Roberts Wilkerson and her husband, Mike, of Henderson and Zairian Roberts Somers of Kuttawa, Ky.; nine brothers, Jim Mattingly and his wife, Kathy, John Daniel Mattingly and his wife, Amy, and Robert A. "Bob" Mattingly, all of Henderson, Jeff Mattingly and his wife, Shirley, of Walland, Tenn., Greg Mattingly of Austin, Texas, Rick Mattingly and his companion, Patty Haleman, of Henderson, Tommy Mattingly and his wife, Dee, of Boonville, Ind., Tony Mattingly and his wife, Holly, of Henderson and Mark Roberts of Kuttawa, Ky; and 10 grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. The Rev. Freida Alexander will officiate. Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery with full military rites performed by the American Legion Worsham Post No. 40.

Friends may call from 1 to 7 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Bellview United Methodist Church.

Pallbearers will be Derrick Mattingly, Tony Mattingly, Rick Mattingly, Tommy Mattingly, Mark Roberts and Susan Mattingly Brooks.
