Grandpa Windom shoed horses at some time in his life, mechanics and not sure what other jobs he did. He use to call me "Cherry" poking fun at my name, give me orange candy slices and once whittled or fashioned me a small play horse out of leather. He was so tall when I looked up I could barely see the tips of his gold rimmed glasses. He was supposedly 7 feet tall. He was quite the teaser too. He stayed with our family later in life after he and grandma Viola Mae separated until he died in 1957.
