Mrs. Cable, known to many here as "grandma," who was stricken with paralysis four days previous, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Logan of Canon City on Tuesday afternoon. Deceased was 77 years of age. She is survived by two daugters, Mrs. Logan and Mrs. John Chetelat, both of Canon City. Mrs. Tom Doughty, a granddaughter and Mrs. Cinderella Sanders, daughter-in-law, both of this place[Westcliffe], attended the funeral, departing for Canon Wednesday morning.

Aged lady died this morning of paralysis.
Mrs. Elizabeth Cable, mother of Mrs. John Chetelat and Mrs. C.J. Logan, died at the home of the latter, corner of third street and Harrison avenue, at 8:00 AM Tuesday morning of paralysis, complicated by an attack of la grippe.
Deceased was a native of Devonshire, England, but for more than 40 years had lived in America, 25 of which were spent in the province of Ontario, Canada, and the remainder in this state. Previous to coming to Canon City, Mrs. Cable made her home at Westcliffe, where her only son died four years ago. Deceased was in her 79th year of her age and had been a widow since 1885.
She was a member of the Episcopal faith and her funeral will take place from Christ church at 2:00 Thursday afternoon, Rev. Sherrod, rector of the congregation conducting the service. Burial will be at Lakeside cemetery.

Elizabeth had a daughter named Jane. Jane's father is thought to be William Simmons, although there is still some questions. Jane was raised by William and his wife. They left England for Canada around 1850. They later moved to the US where Jane ended up in Colorado.

Elizabeth Simmons married William Sanders in England. They had a son: George.
Elizabeth divorced William and her and George left from England to Canada in the late 1860's. They settled in Lambton, Ontario, Canada.

After William, Elizabeth married John Close in 1868.
They lived in Erin Twp, Wellington, Ontario, Canada.
They had a daughter together, Martha [Mattie].
John had 5 other children with his first wife Rebecca.
I believe he died sometime between 1871 and 1873 - he is listed on the 1871 census of Canada with Elizabeth, 3 of his children with Rebecca and Martha, along with George Saunders, Elizabeth's son.

In 1873 Elizabeth married Henry Cable in Michigan on the same day as her son George married his first wife Eliza Tarzwell.
Henry died in 1885 in Ontario.

Jane was the first to settle in Colorado. She and her husband John Chetelat first made the Wet Mountain Valley[Westcliffe] their home.
George and his family followed in 1893.

Martha and her mother still lived in Canada, but made frequent trips to Westcliffe to see the rest of the family.
She was still listed as living in Ontario on the 1901 census of Canada living with her granddaughter Leola Hoover(Martha's daughter).

In 1902 Elizabeth and Martha finally made the move to Westcliffe. She was living with her daughter Jane & husband John.
Her son George died in 1904 and Elizabeth moved in with her daughter Mattie and her husband C. J. Logan, living in Canon City.

She passed away almost 4 years to the day after her son George.
