Alice E. Shelton, 81, Marion, died Aug. 22 in the Bradner Village Healthcare Center, Marion.
She was born Feb. 25, 1915, in Sweetwater, Tenn., to Matthew and Melessa (Bulllman) Hensley. She married Virgel E. Shelton. He preceded her in death in 1968.
Mrs. Shelton was a homemaker and had been a cook at the Grant County Children's Home, Grant County Detention Center and the Grant County Home. She was a member of the Jonesboro Assembly of God, Jonesboro.
She is survived by two sons, Mack Shelton, Pendleton, and Lowell Shelton, Marion; four daughters, Betty Stotlar, Fort Wayne, Dot Hocksema, LaFontaine, Kathy Rinker, Kokomo, and Louise Hopkins, Fieldale, Va.; one sister-in-law, Emily Hensley, Moshiem, Tenn.; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Aug. 24 at the Hunt Funeral Home, Fairmount, with the Rev. Jerry Gallaway officiating. Burial was in Park Cemetery, Fairmount.
