John Michael "Mike" Stubbs, 60, of Lacey's Springs died Sunday, December 2, 2012 in Marshall Medical Center North.
Mr. Stubbs was born in Thomaston, Georgia June 9, 1952 the son of Lonnie T. and Addie Frances Stubbs. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
He and the former Phyllis Sue Brannon have been married 40 years and have called Lacey's Spring home since 1979. He was active in the Lacey's Spring Fire Department and the Lacey's Spring Community Association. He retired in 2004 from Redstone Arsenal.
He is survived by his wife: Phyllis Stubbs of Lacey's Spring; son: Christopher Stubbs of Union Grove; daughter and son-in-law: Jennifer and Brian Bodine of Holly Pond; 6 grandchildren: Jonathan Stubbs, Deloria Stubbs, Jacob Cox, Clay Bodine, Cole Bodine and Alyssa Willingham; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Thomas Kenneth and Judy Stubbs and Robert Jason "Jay" and Nina Stubbs both of Georgia; two sisters and brother-in-law: Alice Faye Beck and Shirley Ann and Mike Obert both of Georgia. Preceded in death by his parents: Lonnie and Addie Stubbs.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Brindlee Mountain Chapel, Morgan City; Brother Ray Higginbotham, officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery, Morgan County, Brindlee Mountain Chapel, Morgan City and Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Pallbearers will be Clay Bodine, Cole Bodine, Jerry Bloodsworth, Jacob Cox, Steven Kirkwood, Doug Letson, Wes Shelton and Jonathan
Stubbs.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Kenneth Stubbs and Robert "Jay"
Stubbs.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Brindlee Mountain Chapel, Morgan City.
