A well loved fisherman, a man full of vitality who had a twinkle in his eye, passed away while mowing the lawn of his beloved Lake front property on Lake Eureka. Al was Born and raised on a farm in Eureka, Kansas to Margaret and Benjamin Bates Snider. Growing up on the farm he witnesed the advancement of farm implements from horse drawn farm equipment to diesel and computer powered mega-machinery. As a boy he loved to fish, trap and hunt. A life-long passion for fishing he fished on the day he died.
Al graduated from Eureka High School in 1934, attended Emporia State Teachers College and earned a teachers certificate. Graduating in 1936 he taught two years at Spring Creek School in rural Eureka, Kansas. In 1940 Al went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. In 1942 he served his country in in the Air Force as a weatherman. In 1946 he married Marion Frances Hogan from Newton Kansas. Together they raised five children moving back and forth from Wichita, Kansas to Topeka, Kansas while Al worked as an engineer for the phone Co. He retired from the Phone Company on Oct. 21st 1976. Al spent most of his time at the the Family retreat on Lake Eureka. He loved to teach others to fish and in the prossess made many life-long fishing buddies. Freinds and family raised money to build a public fishing dock on Lake Eureka named in honor of Al. Al Also Caught one of the largest catfish in Greenwood County history. Survivors include Sister Marie Lewis, of Eureka, Kansas. Daughters Beverly Perez of Wichita, Kansas. Geneva (Richard) Meyer of Eureka Kansas, Kathy (Rob) Runberg of Olathe Kansas and son Dr. Bruce (Mona) Snider MD of Overland Park Kansas. Eight Grandchildren and two Great-grandsons. Proceeded in Death by his wife of 53 years, Marion and Son Brian A. Snider.
This beloved freind, Father and Grandfather will be missed by so many. We are all comferted in knowing that he is with family and freinds and is enjoying a beautiful new fishing spot on the shores of heaven's lakes.

Cause of Death: Heart failure/Natural causes
