Charles M. "Charlie" Scott, 89, of Central City died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital in Central City.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Solt Funeral Home. The Rev. Debra Tompsett-Welch will officiate. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Scott was born on Sept. 7, 1910, in Geary, Okla., to Rolla M. and Josephine A. (Lindahl) Scott. He grew up in Geary and attended Elm Grove County School near there. He moved to Hordville at the age of 19 and worked for nine years on the E.A. Carlson farm.
He married Violet J. Edlund on June 16, 1937. They moved into Central City in 1940. Mr. Scott bought and sold livestock, horses and tack. He dealt in horses and tack in his later years and in tack only during the last few years,
continuing until the time of his death. He also worked with livestock at several sales in the area, including the Central City Community Sale, the Loup City Sales and in Norfolk.
Mr. Scott attended the United Methodist Church in Central City.
Survivors include one daughter, Margenne (Mrs. Neil) Selko of Central City; two grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three brothers, Dan of Uper Lake, Calif., Oscar of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Hollis of Idaho; and two sisters, Ida (Mrs. Bill) Schutz of Laramie, Wyo., and Olive Swaggart of Geary, Okla.
His wife died on Feb. 15, 1997. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Forrest and William; and two sisters, Opal Berck and Gertrude Russell.
