CHARLES ABRAMSON
MANCHESTER DEPOT - Charles Abramson, 96, died Sunday at the home of his son, Edward Abramson, in Manchester Depot. He was born in Sweden July 8, 1863 and had lived in Manchester Depot for 46 years.
He is survived by another son, Carl, also of Manchester Depot; two granddaughters; a grandson and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow from Brewster Funeral Home in Manchester Center with the Rev. Edgar Johnson of the Manchester Center First Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be in Dellwood Cemetery, Manchester.
Karl got his moving letter for America from the minister in Tråvad Parish, Skaraborg County, Sweden on February 16, 1888. At that time he was a farmhand at the farm Simmestorp under St Hof in Tråvad Parish (Source: Tråvad household record, 1888, page 60). He left from the port of Göteborg on March 2, 1888 at the age of 24 years old. He was listed as coming from Larf Parish (now known as Larv), Skaraborg County and he had a ticket for Williamsport, PA. (Swedish Passengerlists, Emigranten CD, Source code: 34:163:16255). Larf Parish is the head parish to which Tråvad Parish belongs. He travelled with Karl Erland Johannesson Skog, born 1865 in Tråvad Parish.

He went to Gardeau, Pennsylvania to work for the Rich Lumber Company. When they left Gardeau with the Rich Lumber Company, they moved first to New York. Karl's name here was Charles Abramson, but his birthname was Karl Abrahamson.
