Geneva C. Long, 78, of Carlisle died Wednesday, April 29, 2009, in Milford, Del. She was born March 15, 1931, in New Cumberland, and was a daughter of the late John N. and Julia C. (Kohler) Wolf.

Geneva graduated from Carlisle High School and formerly worked at the Mechanicsburg Naval Supply Depot. She retired from the Bon Ton department store in Carlisle after more than 20 years of service. Geneva was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses Carlisle Congregation.

She loved spending time with her family, including going to the movies. She enjoyed taking pictures, reading a good mystery and traveling. Her heart never left the ocean. Her creative outlets included cake decorating, flower arranging and hanging wallpaper. She had a young spirit that enabled her to make up stories and games for her grandchildren.

Geneva was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia M. Wolf, and three brothers, John N. Wolf Jr., Lester R. Wolf and Frank J. Wolf.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Kenneth W. Long; one son, Ronald A. (and his wife, Brenda) Long of Carlisle; two daughters, Debra A. (and her husband, John) Eppley of Carlisle and Sandra L. (and her husband, Max) Helman of Shippensburg; two sisters, Betty (and her husband, Roy) Wevodau of Mechanicsburg and Dorothy Weary of Carlisle; one brother, Richard (and his wife, Sarah) Wolf of Carlisle; five grandchildren, Jamie Lackemeyer, Justin (and his wife, Jennifer) Long, Andrew Eppley, Eric Helman and Melissa Helman; one great-grandchild, Landon Lackemeyer; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Elder Phillip D. Peoples officiating.
