Born, July 2, 1927 in Leaksville, NC, he was the son of the late Curry A. Howell and Ethel Handy Howell. He was a military veteran having served in the United States Navy during World War II. He had worked at Fieldrest Mills, Service Technology and Commodore Homes as a tool clerk. He was a member of Riveroak Church of God, enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf and tinkering with various things.
In addition to his parents, he was the spouse of the late Mildred Juanita Jones Howell. Survivors include one daughter, Rebecca Faye Howell Bryant and husband, David of Richmond Hill, GA; one son, Steve Howell and his wife, Rhonda of Mableton, GA; four grandchildren, Leslie Howell, Adam and Andrew Bryant, Dr. Timothy Byrd; Two great grandchildren, Max and Lola Byrd.
Funeral services officiated by the Rev. Ralph Hager will be held Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens, where military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 1097.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Swicegood Funeral Home is respectfully serving the family.
