Eggers, one of the first white children born in Cunningham Township, was born Oct. 4, 1886 on a farm to pioneer parents.
He moved to Gettysburg in 1910, In 1913 he moved to Gorman where he operated a general mercantile store until 1918. He operated the Eggers Garage in
Gettysburg from 1918 to 1934. Eggers was a contractor and was in the house moving business from 1934 to 1955 when he retired. He was married Jan. 29, 1941 to Karen Marie Pearson.
He is survived by his wife, two foster sons, William P. Sheldon, Tucson, Ariz.; Daniel S.
Sheldon, Gettysburg; one brother A. E. Eggers, McMinnville, Ore.; one sister Mrs. Clementina Orman. Gettysburg; and four grandchildren. His parents preceded him in death.
