William Henry Guffey was the son of Ephraim Berry Guffey and Morning Caroline McKinney. He was more commonly known as "Bee" to his friends and family. William was born around 1867 in Jackson County,Alabama. He was the second child out of eight. He had an older sister named Sarah "Lou" (1866) and six younger brothers and sisters - Ephraim Monroe (1870), Syrous Sanders (1872), Elsie C. (1873), Serena A. (1875) and Hester A. (1877).

William Guffey moved to Arkansas sometime in the late 1890's.It's there he met his future wife, Edith McAtee. They were married on July 28, 1898, in Logan County. William and Edith Guffey had at least six children. Roy Onius (1902), Jincie (1904), Geneva (1907), Lillian (1908), Claude Wallace (1916), and Tandy B. (1920).

In 1924, William and Edith divorced. They were living in Big Rock, Arkansas at the time. Acording to later census and other records, Edith moved to Forney,Texas. She eventually remarried sometime after.
On June 3, 1984, Edith Guffey passed away.
