~Some sources say Zach served under "Major George Washington, who was in charge of a Caddo Indian Battalion" while others say he served in a Chickasaw Battalion.~
He remained with the army through-out the period of hostilities, acting with the troops upon the plains of the territory, guarding the frontier here and in Texas.

Died January 14, 1917 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma
Zach was married to Annie on November 4, 1906 in Pauls Valley.
Father Isaac Gardner, white man, and his mother Rebecca (Johnson) Gardner, Choctaw Indian.
