Ilene was a 1958 graduate of Delphos High School. She then attended Marymount College in Salina where she graduated in 1962 with her Bachelors of Science in Chemistry. In 1965, she graduated with her Master's Degree in Physical Science from the University of Northern Colorado. Ilene taught in Montezuma, KS from 1962 to 1964 and in the Boulder Valley School District from 1965 to 1993. She received the distinct honor of Teacher of the Year in 1993. Following her retirement, Ilene moved back to the family homestead near Delphos.
Ilene was an active member of the St. Paul's Catholic Church, Council of Catholic Women, and Love INC of Ottawa County. She was also involved in numerous parish and diocesan programs. She received an award from the Ottawa County Soil Conservation for work that was done at the farm.
Ilene was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Louis Hart, James Hart, Lawrence Hart and his wife Jean; sister Alice Nicoletti and her husband Robert; and nephew Robert Nicoletti, Jr.
Survivors include her brother Martin Hart of Denver, CO; sister Ellen Cermak of Oklahoma City, OK; and 94 nieces and nephews and one on the way.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, December 1 at the St. Paul's Catholic Church, Delphos.
Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery. A reception will be held at 4:00 P.M. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Minneapolis. Memorial contributions may be made to Love INC of Ottawa County, Mitchell County Regional Medical Foundation, or Solomon Valley Hospice and may be left in care of the funeral home.
