Mary was born in Knowles, Wis., to John and Agnes (Gruber) Lehner on June 7, 1921, and later settled in Mayville, Wis., graduating from high school in 1939.
She married Harvey Stephan on June 7, 1947, and together they had four children.
Mary worked at Allis-Chalmers in Milwaukee and in later years at Fox Point Sportswear in Port Washington.
A lover of dogs and a delightful prankster, she enjoyed sewing, millinery, craft projects, playing cards and fishing. She was a member of the Saukville Legion Auxiliary, a poll worker and had avid involvement with Immaculate Conception Church activities during her younger years.
Retirement brought great adventures of around the world travels with Harvey and endless conversations and slides of their experiences.
Mary is survived by her children Kathleen Maurer of Eagle River, Robert Stephan of West Bend, Michael Stephan of Eagle River and James (Liane) Stephen of Woodland Hills, Calif.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harvey and brothers Hugo Lehner and Alex Lehner
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at noon Friday, Jan. 10, 2020, at St. John XXIII Catholic Parish, Immaculate Conception Church, 145 W. Church St., Saukville, with Father Patrick Wendt presiding.
Visitation will be held at the church from 11 a.m. until the service.
Mary Margaret will be entombed at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Port Washington.
