Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Hems Bros. Mortuary chapel in El Centro for Jim Porter, 82, of El Centro, who died Sunday in his home.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro. The Rev. R.T. Arnold of Sweet Home Baptist Church will officiate.

Mr. Porter was born on March 13, 1921, in Mt. Vernon, Ala., where he was raised. He joined the U.S. Army at age 21 and served from 1942 to 1946, much of that time during World War II. While in the Army, he received the Good Conduct Medal, European Theatre Ribbon, American Ribbon and the Victory Ribbon.
