Adolf, the oldest son of John and Frances Shara, was born south of Narka, Kan., March 21, 1873, and passed away at the Washington County Hospital in Washington, Kan., on December 26, 1954, at the age of 81 years, 9 months and 5 days.
He spent his entire life in the near vicinity of his birth, which was on the family homestead, the present site of Kasha cemetery. What education the frontier community afforded was augmented by his extensive reading and application of the lessons of living in such a manner that he was considered a person well equipped to deal with life's experiences.
On February 19, 1895, he was united in marriage to Mary Krisan at
Belleville. To this union was born one daughter, Josephine. The couple moved to a farm northwest of Haddam where they developed the unbroken prairie into a well improved farm. In 1932, they moved one mile north to a farm which they improved and remodeled which place was Mr. Shara's home until his death. Mrs. Shara passed away October 9, 1945.
Mr. Shara took pride in his farm and in watching the development of the community which had always been his home.
Preceded in death by his wife and one sister, he is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Paul Tuma of Haddam; five sisters, Mrs. Anna McCurdy of Grand Island, Neb., Mrs. Belle Kvasnicka and Mrs. Stella Durflinger of Narka, Mrs. Lottie Sturm and Mrs. Emma Bazant of Lincoln, Neb.; two brothers, William Shara of Narka and Stanley Shara of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; and a large number of relative and friends.
Funeral services were held December 29 at Denton Memorial Hall at Narka, conducted by the Rev. M. A. Salser. Burial was in National (Kasha) cemetery.
