Crystal K. Thompson, age 59, of Marceline died Friday, November 30, 2012 at KU Medical Center. Crystal was born at Fort Belvoir, Virginia on July 27, 1953 to Delmar D. and Jacqueline A. (Powell) Smith. She married Doug Thompson on July 2, 1983 and he survives her. Crystal had worked at Walsworth Publishing, was a member of the Marceline First Christian Church and former member of the Eagle's Auxiliary, and a Marceline resident all her life. She is survived by her husband Doug Thompson of the home in Marceline, five brothers, Raymond Smith and wife Janine, Kansas City, MO; Phillip Smith, Marceline; William Smith and wife Carol, Liberty; Loren Smith and wife Dawn, Portland, OR; and Kevin Smith and wife Tammie, Springfield; seven nieces, Erica, Kendra, Jordan, Crystal, Jessica, Taylor, and Tevin, four nephews, Jameson, Garrett, Jacob, and Kyle, and fourteen great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, nephew Courtney Smith, and one brother Charles. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 3, 2012 at Delaney Funeral Home in Marceline with Rev. Grady Todd officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Marceline. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 2 from 5 until 7 PM at the funeral home in Marceline. Pallbearers will be Garrett, Jacob, Jameson, and Kyle Smith, Jason Eckersley, and Kalen Shrout. Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Sears, Tyler Eckersley Bryce Smith and Logan Smith. Memorials may be made to the Petska Cancer Fund and these may be left at or mailed to Delaney Funeral Home 1720 N. Missouri Ave., Marceline, MO 64658.
