Win farmed the land owned by his father, south of Pawnee, Illinois until he retired. He never married. He liked to tell funny stories, and enjoyed listening to the Saint Louis Cardinals baseball games on the radio. When he was a young man, he was drafted for service in World War One. Until that time, he had never been more that 20 miles from home. Win was not deployed to Europe during the war.
