Henry was a son of Johannes Stroh (1809-1901) and Elizabeth Stumpf (1811-1882). He was born in the village of Berlin in Waterloo County in the year 1840.

He was also a brother to John S. Stroh Jr. (1853-1931)

He lived his entire live in Waterloo County according to the 1851 to 1911 censuses.

Henry married Annie Eva Knechtel in St. Jacob's Village on April 30, 1865.

They raised 3 daughters in Waterloo County;

1. Amelia Stroh (Dehler) 1865-1892.
2. Melvina Stroh (Heinrich) 1870-1957.
3. Elenora Stroh (Fries) 1879-1970.

Henry died of Old Age & Infirmites according to his Death Register #034705. He was 87 years, 1 month and 23 days old.
