According to the "History and Genealogy of the Thomas Stone Family" by Earl H. Antes, George's first wife was Mary Robbins. According to the marriage record of his son Bertram (see:, his mother was Mary E Johnson. Perhaps either "Johnson" or "Robbins" is a married name for a previous marriage of Mary.

The Warrensburg News, THURSDAY, JUNE 25, 1908:
George Stone, aged 64 years, and a life-long resident of Warrensburg, died Monday evening after a brief illness of a complication of diseases. He had been in poor health for some time, but the acute condition which caused his death did not arise until Monday morning. Two sons and two daughters survive him, Oris and Clarence Stone, Mrs. Samuel Weller and Miss Viola Stone: also one sister, Mrs. Daniel Washburn of Fort Ann. He made his home with Mrs. Weller at Burnhamville and died there. The funeral was held at the house yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock and was conducted by the Rev. J. C. Booth. The deceased was a veteran of the Civil War, having served three years in Company K, 1st N.Y. cavalry.
