Jesus came and stopped by your bed. He took your hand and softly said, "You have suffered more than you can stand, come with me to a better land." A loving husband, father and grandfather, he passed away with his family at his bedside Friday, April 9, 2010, after a valiant 7 month battle with ALS (Lou Gehrigs disease). He was a native of Baton Rouge and a resident of Prairieville. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a longtime employee of Coca Cola Bottling Co. and later owned an accounting and tax practice. More recently, he owned Employer Resource Center. He was an avid fan of LSU baseball and the Houston Astros and loved metal detecting. He was past president of the Louisiana Society of Independent Accountants, a legal and legislative lobbyist for LSIA, a member of the LSU Coaches Committee, the Southern Historical Research and Recovery Association, and served on the finance committee for the Catholic Diocese of Baton Rouge. He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Bonnie Vessier Pourciau; daughters Lorie Hebert and husband Brett, Kathy Pourciau and Kim Collier and husband Anthony; grandchildren Brett Hebert, Chase Collier and Cameron Collier; and a sister, Gail Campo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester Sr. and Pearlie Mae Pourciau; and brothers, Bruce and Lester Pourciau Jr. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., Sunday, April 11, was from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation continues on Monday at St. Gerard Majella Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Gerry Siebold, C.S.S.R, officiating. Interment in Oak Lane Memorial Park, La. 73 in Prairieville. Pallbearers will be Anthony Collier, Brett Hebert, Bruce Vessier, Donald Vessier, London Vessier and Jayce Vessier. Honorary pallbearers are Les Hornyak and Gerard Triche. We would like to express sincere gratitude to our family and friends who supported and offered prayers for us during this difficult time. Special thanks to Devin Strother, Brandy Dewitt, Kelly Viator, Nancy, Alison, Stacey, Blair and ministers from LifeSource Hospice. A special thank you to Arthur's special guardian angel, Chantelle DeLeon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the ALS Association, P.O. Box 66825, Baton Rouge, LA 70896.
