Born Jan. 23, 1963 in Tulsa to Roy Lee and Beverly June (Gougler) Walker, Marc spent most of his boyhood in Tulsa. When he was in high school the family moved to Claremore where Marc completed his education graduating from Claremore High School with the Class of 1983. Following graduation, he continued to pursue his education at the Pryor campus of Vo-Tech. For a number of years he worked for the Sheffield Steel Company. Marc's first employment in the wrecker service was with Dunlap; he worked for several other local services before beginning his own company.
Donna Reese, a Savannah, Georgia resident, had found a new home in Claremore in the fall of 2000. Being unaccustomed to Oklahoma winters, she had no hesitation in buying a hilltop property. With one of Oklahoma's first snowfalls, she found herself stuck short of her home destination. A call for help to a local wrecker service brought a first meeting for Donna and Wrecker Marc, as he was affectionately known by his peers. On Oct. 20th of the following year, Marc and Donna married at a Eureka Springs ceremony. Two and a half years after their first meeting they took the plunge and opened the doors of their own business, Green Country Towing, LLC. With Marc's Wreck Master training, safety was always at the forefront of his efforts, especially as he trained Donna and others. Members of the Claremore Chamber of Commerce, the Better Business Bureau and NFIB, Marc and Donna approached their business efforts with professionalism and a desire to succeed by providing superior service.
Marc was devoted to his family as well as his multitude of treasured friends. He was loving and generous – he met no strangers and he had no enemies. Growing up one of three busy boys, Marc's drive to succeed was recognized and admired by his brothers. As he became a dad to his two sons, he embraced opportunities to be an integral part of their lives and a role model for them. The whole family had lots of fun when Marc served as part of the pit crew for his son, Lance's teenage sprint car racing. And as the grandchildren came into his life, he embraced each one as the individual treasures they were.
This devoted husband and family man is survived by his wife, Donna, of their home in Claremore; his mother, Bev West; children Lance Walker and wife, Samantha, Tyler Walker and wife, Paige, all of Claremore; stepchildren Melanie Sapp of Louisville, KY, Jessica Green of Tulsa, and Pamela Sapp of Savannah, GA; and grandchildren Blake and Jovie, Ryder, Bradley, Kaleigh, Paloma, Alexander and Lexa, and Carter and Myles; brothers Gerrald Walker of Tulsa and Daren West and wife, Jerri, of Claremore; and his aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Lee Walker.
