Mildred Brous Accident Victim
Funeral for Mildred F. Brous, a retired Portland public school teacher, will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Colonial Mortuary, followed by burial at Riverview cemetery. Miss Brous was injured in an automobile accident Thursday near Grants Pass and died in Grants Pass Friday. The accident occurred while she was returning from California with her brother, Wilber H. Brous. Burial will be at Riverview cemetery. Dr. Ward Davis, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, will officiate.
Miss Brous was born in Kansas City, Kan. When she was a young woman she taught school in Syracuse, Kan., then in Kansas City, Kan., and later in Kelso, Wash.
She came to Oregon and attended the normal school at Monmouth. In 1916 she entered the Portland public school system and taught for 37 years until her retirement in 1953.
She taught at Alameda, Montavilla and Glencoe schools, and was at Shattuck school when she retired. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by two brothers, Wilber H. Brous and Dale E. Brous, both of Portland.
