The former Hedwig Holtzmann, she was born Jan. 29, 1902, in the Town of Russell, a daughter of the late August and Louise Raeder Holtzmann. She attended district school in the Town of Rhine. On Sept. 5. 1929, she and Henry P. Ruppel of Sheboygan were married. The couple made their home in Sheboygan. Mr. Ruppel died July 17, 1974. Mrs. Ruppel was a member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church, and formerly belonged to its Ladies Aid Society.
Surviving are five daughters. Mrs. Alvin (Lydia) Jashob, Mrs. Alma Breu, Mrs. Frieda Conrad and Mrs. Elva Herman, all of Sheboygan, and Mrs. Leo (Fdna) Heine of Zepher Hills, Fla.; two sons, Edward and Otto, both of Sheboygan; 11 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; and two sisters, Mrs. Erma Conrad of Elkhart Lake, and Mrs. Ella Brickner of Plymouth. She was preceded in death by one daughter, four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels, with the Rev. Clarence Stangohr, pastor of Ebenezer Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 p.m. today until the time of service on Saturday. A memorial fund has been established in Mrs. Ruppel's name for the church.
