Christiana Wilhelmene Hansen Madsen, was born December 1, 1855 in Aarstrup, Denmark an died at her home in Newell September 27, 1924, at the age of 68 years, 9 months and 26 days. She was married in Denmark to Hans Madsen. They came to America thirty-eight years ago and settled on a farm near Newell and have lived in or near Newell ever since. Nine children were born to them, five of whom survive: Christine now Mrs. George Paulsen, of Hampton; Laura, now Mrs. Louis Johnson, Henrietta, now Mrs. Peter Kladstrup, Chris and Andrew Madsen all of Newell.
