Orville W. Smith, 59, of 6500 Kansas Ave., Kansas City, Kan. Died Saturday at Providence-St. Margaret Health Center. He was born in Clear Springs, Mo., and had lived in the Kansas City area most of his life. Mr. Smith was a policeman for the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department from 1954 until 1964. He was later a mechanic. He was a member of the River of Life Church. He was an Army veteran. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Helen L. Smith of the home; three sons, John E. Smith, Jerry D. Smith and Richard L. Smith, of Kansas City, Kan.; three daughters, Mrs. Delores Metcalf and Tammy Sue Smith, of Kansas City, Kan. And Mrs. Beverly Crookham, Tonganoxie, Kan.; his father, Arthur Smith, Thayer, MO.; his stepfather and mother, Mr. and Mrs. John Dillon, Edwardsville in Wyandotte County; two half-brothers, Frank Dillon and Bill Dillon, of Kansas City, Kan.; a sister, Mrs. Loretta Beatty, Kansas City, Kan.; two stepsisters, Miss Ida Dillon and Mrs. Josephine Pruett, of Mountain View, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Maple Hill Chapel; burial at Maple Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the chapel.
