NAMPA—Joe D. Merrell, 51, of 1108 Sherman Street, Nampa, died Thursday in a local hospital.
Born in Byars, Okla., Dec. 17, 1910, Mr. Merrell came to the Nampa area in 1947 and farmed near Melba until he was employed in Nampa by the Pacific Fruit Express shops. Later he joined the Union Pacific Railroad as a carman. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Frances, of Nampa; two daughters, Mrs. Roberta Weaver of San Jose, Calif., and Mrs. Fredrick Cabral of Oakland; his mother, Mrs. Hattie Merrell of Geary, Okla.; eight sisters, Mrs. Ruby Lancaster of Colorado Springs, Mrs. Della Mae Nicholsen and Mrs. Marie Fossett, both of Hinton, Okla., Mrs. Edith Curtis of Chicago, Mrs. Marian Eudy of Geary, Mrs. Laberta Cox of Susion, Calif., Mrs. Ruth Hagler of Waynesville, S. C., and Mrs. Bessie Lee King or Muskogee, Okla.; four brothers, Jim, of Bountiful, Utah, Ray and Jack of Geary and Charles Merrell in Oregon, and seven grandchildren.
Shepherd Chapel will announce services.
