COLUMBIANA - Betty P. Baughman Wolf, who had lived for many years on Louise Street in East Liverpool, passed away late Wednesday evening, Nov. 28, 2012, at Page Memorial Hospital in Luray, Va., at the age of 87. Betty, who had resided with her son in Columbiana for the past two years, had been in Luray visiting family for the holidays when she became ill.
A daughter of the late Harvey and Mayme Blough Jones, she was born in Hollsopple, Pa., on Jan. 12, 1925, and was one of nine children. She moved to the East Liverpool area soon after her marriage to Kenneth L. Baughman in 1942. He preceded her in death in 1973.
Betty lovingly cared for her family, and was a devoted homemaker. She later worked in retail at the former Montgomery Ward, as well as Woolworths. Betty had also been the bookkeeper for the East Liverpool City Hospital Ladies Auxiliary following the death of her husband.
She was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church here, and later belonged to the Jerusalem Lutheran Church in Columbiana. While at St. John, she was a member of the choir for over 30 years, and had also belonged to the Evangelical Lutheran Church Women and its Ruth Circle. She also belonged to the AARP Chapter No. 4359 in East Liverpool.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Betty was preceded in death by her second husband, Donald R. Wolf, whom she married in April, 2005. He passed away in February, 2010.
Surviving her is her son, Thomas R. Baughman and his wife, Dianne, of Columbiana. Betty's other son, Kenneth L. "Lee" Baughman Jr., passed away on Feb. 18, 2004.
There are eight grandchildren: Kenneth R. Baughman; Sarah Willoughby and her husband, Skip; Sonia Brooks; Briston Baughman and his wife, Kathy; Jenna Baughman, Brandon Baughman, Lisa Velaquez and Holly Morris and her husband, Larry. There are eight great-grandchildren as well, and numerous nieces and nephews. A daughter-in-law, Vicky Baughman, of East Liverpool, also survives.
Betty was also preceded in death by all of her siblings: Rachel Shaffer, Twila Ott, Evelyn Stayrook, Florence Fulton, Virginia Kennedy, Trella McDaniel, Glen Jones, and Harvey Jones Jr.
