Lewis B. Howard was born in this town in 1849, and has always made Franklinville his home. He lived on a farm until thirty years old, then took up grading work in the village and worked at it a dozen years, then added to it concrete work in the line of cement sidewalks, barn floors, curbing, steps, etc., and this has been his main work during the last twenty years.
For fifteen years Mr. Howard has lived in the house he now occupies on the street that bears his name, and it was several years after he located there before the street was opened through to Chestnut Street. He yet retains several vacant lots. Mr. and Mrs. Howard have had sixieen children, twelve of whom are living.
During the life of the local E. A. U., Good Templars, and N. P. L., Mr. Howard was a loyal member to them. He is an exempt Fireman from the Union Hose Company, in which he served for eighteen years.
