Nels Anton Petersen, son of Christian and Nicoline Larsen Petersen, was born in Vestbjerg, Denmark, February 13, 1894 and departed this life in Buena Vista County Hospital, Storm Lake, Iowa, August 16, 1967. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church at Sulsted, Denmark. In May of 1911 he came to Newell, Iowa, where he farmed until his retirement
a few years ago.

On February 19, 1919, he was united in holy wedlock with Agnes Anderson. To this union four children were born: Betty (Mrs. Harry Christensen), Elva, (Mrs. Warren Frerichs), and Virgil, all of Newell; and Verna (Mrs. A. J. Witter) of LaGrange Park, Illinois.

He was a member of Nain Lutheran Church of Newell, the Danish brotherhood, a veteran of World War I having served from December 10,
1917 to December 10, 1918, in the heavy artillery, a member of American Legion Post 193, Newell, Iowa, since it organized, and a member of Buena
Vista County Barracks No. 1267.

He was preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers and sisters, and one grandchild. His wife and children and eleven grandchildren mourn his passing as well as other relatives and friends.
