Actress. A Canadian starlet who got her start in Depression era musicals, she was perhap's her country's second greatest export next to Norma Shearer. The daughter of a wealthy accountant, she was inspired to become an actress upon seeing a stage production of "Design for Living" on her 18th birthday. Elizabeth made her motion picture debut in "Music In The Air" (1934) and went on to appear in nearly 30 films including roles in "Anything Goes" (1936), "Mad About Music" (1938), and "Broadway" (1942), later finding herself a box office rival with fellow Quebec native Denna Durbin. Elizabeth later worked in radio appearing on syndicated programs as "Ellery Queery", "Suspense", "The Green Hornet", and "Boston Blackie" later making her last film appearance in the 1954 drama "Night People". Secure financially from her personal wealth and Hollywood income, she lived a comfortable retirement in Southern California until her death from congestive heart failure at age 98.
