The Times - March 30, 1902:

Miss Iva Iney Crosby, second daughter of George W. Crosby, and John H. Airey, of Minesville, Augusta county, were united in marriage on Wednesday at the parsonage, by the Rev. J. N. Van Deventer, pastor of Old Stone Church, Ft. Defiance.

John Harvey Arey, 79, died Wednesday morning at his home on Rt. 5.
Mr. Arey was born in Augusta County, a son of the late John W. and Lucrettia Wheeler Arey, on March 12 1878. He worked for many years fir the Augusta Motor Company and later for the Atlantic Life Insurance Company. Mr. Arey was a member of Springhill Presbyterian Church where he was a member of the Board of Deacons.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Iva Crosby Arey; two daughters, Mrs. Carl Simmons of Lynchburg, and Miss Mary Ines Arey, at home; tw0 sons, Alfred B. Arey of Staunton and C. Rufus Arey of Verona; one sister, Mrs. Mark Cupp of Alexandria; and one brother, George Arey of Staunton. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 o'clock Friday morning from Springhill Presbyterian Church conducted by the Rev. Mr. Paul Shifflet. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Warren Arey, Lee Cupp, Golden Arey, Bernard Arey, Harold Berry, Carl Berry, Raymond Crosby; Honorary, Randall Hahn, Moody Yeago, Virgil Gore, Scheele Kelley, Spencer Ware, Roscoe Masincupp and Elders and deacons of Springhill Presbyterian Church.
The body will remain at the Hamrick Funeral Home until 9:30 Friday morning when it will be taken to the church.
