ERIN CAMPBELL CARTER, 82, of Memphis, retired from Prudential Life Insurance Co. after 21 years, died of heart failure Thursday at Baptist Memorial Hospital East. Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Memorial Park. She was a member of Highland Heights United Methodist Church, where she was a member of United Methodist Women. She was a member of Circle One and the Tri Delta sorority at Southwestern (now Rhodes College). She was also an organizer and conductor of tours to Europe, the Middle East, Holy Lands and cruises to Alaska, the Caribbean and Hawaii. Mrs. Carter, the wife of William Carter for 58 years, also leaves a daughter, Sandra B. Carter of Memphis; a son, William Campbell Carter of Herndon, Va., and two grandchildren. The family requests that any memorials be sent to Trezevant Foundation or the charity of the donor's choice. (Published in The Commercial Appeal on October 16, 1998)
