Looking for burial site confirmation: No source to prove James W Craig is buried in this cemetery, other than that he lived here and his wife, three children and many other relatives are in this cemetery. This old cemetery is on a farm, many of the stones are broken and under the soil. Bette Scavone has dug up many of the stones and created memorials with photos for all of the ones she found. Photograph is of horse fence that runs through a portion of cemetery.

Father and Mother unknown

Born: Virginia or probably Kentucky, per census records of his children. Date Unknown.
Have found no Kentucky government records or other relatives, thus far.
Have not found connections to Illinois/Indiana Craigs.
Perhaps parents came straight from a 1700s Pennsylvania Scottish migration.

Migrated to Virginia where he met the family of Benjamin Woodson.
Lived in Virginia according to Franklin County marriage records (License 05/08/1834).
Identified as marrying Mary Royall Woodson Craig #21852668 (1811 - 1890)
Traveled from Franklin County, Virginia with the Woodsons, to Monroe County, Missouri.

Assumed to be the brother of fellow traveler William M. Craig #206067645.
William M. Craig has a marriage record in Franklin County, Virginia also.
William M. Craig married sister of James' wife, Martha LeSeuer Woodson Craig.

Have found no other Virginia government records, thus far.
1830 Census lists only 2 Craigs in county, Thomas and Polly.
1830 Census lists few Craigs in surrounding counties and state.
Have not found the exact location of wife's family Virginia farm.
