Murrel worked as a steam pipe fitter and was a member of U.A.W., and the Masonic Lodge in Mt. Vernon, Ind.
He is survived by a son, Mickey Pollard of Peoria; a grandson, Kevin Kuykendall of Carmi; two great-grandchildren, Abbey and Kelsi Kuykendall; and a son-in-law, Roger Winter of Carmi. Murrel was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Connie Lou Winter; a grandson, Jason Kuykendall; and two sisters, Ruby Carter and Martha Faye Carter.
