Lillian Elizabeth Tillbrook was born on July 18, 1920 in Middletown, CT to Thomas and Emma (Walter) Tillbrook. Her father had been born in England and passed away in 1927 when Lillian was 7 years old. On March 18, 1939 Lillian married Harold Douglas Logan and their daughter Sandra was born on April 15, 1940.. On July 6, 1944 Lillian and her mother took Sandra to the Ringling Brothers Circus in Hartford and the Big Top circus tent caught fire. Although Lillian and her mother escaped the fire, Sandra was killed in the rush of people attempting to escape the blaze. Lillian's name was listed in the Hartford Courant the day after the fire among the "Known Injured" at Hartford's Municipal Hospital. Harold identified his daughter's burned body in the morgue at the State Armory the next day. Lillian never recovered from the death of her daughter, although she and her husband went on to have three sons.. Lillian and her family lived in Cromwell, CT and Lillian was very active in the Middlesex County 4-H and got her family involved as well. She was a very creative person and made things such as wreaths and other decorations. In May of 1983 Lillian became ill from hepatitis and died on 28 May 1983 from severe complications at New Britain Hospital. She was buried at Pine Grove Cemetery in Middletown, CT next to her daughter, Sandra, and not far from her father, Thomas Tillbrook and mother Emma Walter Tillbrook. Lillian left behind her husband, Harold, and her three sons, Douglas, Harold, and David. Called "Nana" by her grandchildren, she is survived by her grandsons Christopher, Kevin, and David Jon, Jr. (D.J.) and her granddaughers Sandra, Jennifer, Lindsie, and Stephanie. Today Lillian and her husband also have a great-granddaughter and six great grandsons.
