Francis Leroy Hughes, 87, of Cedar Falls, IA formerly of Arnold, NE, died Monday, December 6, 2004 at the Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, IA of natural causes. He was born November 9, 1917 in Smith Center, KS son of Roy and Lena Heinschel Hughes. He married Dorothy Reynolds on April 14, 1941 in Overland, KS.

Mr. Hughes was a Pharmacist and owned and operated Hughes Rexall Drug for 21 years. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII. He was a member of the Arnold United Methodist Church, Masons, American Le-gion, Amvets, and Past President of the Arnold Rotary.

He is survived by: his wife Dorothy of Cedar Falls, IA; three sons, James J. (Kathy) Hughes of Waterloo, IA, Laren L. Hughes of Fruita, CO, Kendall K. (Becky) Hughes of Glenpool, OK; two daughters, Linda B. (Marvin) Cox of Mullen, NE, Patricia A. (Doug) Minnig of Herndon, VA; eight grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; three step- grandchildren and six step-great- grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his parents and one brother Ivan G. Hughes.

Memorial services were held Saturday, December 11, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Arnold. Burial at 3:00 p.m. in the Elwood Cemetery.
